In 1893, Theodore Pinske, a hard-working son of German immigrants, began his construction business in the small midwestern town of Plato, Minnesota. Over the years he established a reputation for the finest craftsmanship and added a lumberyard and millwork shop. For five generations the master craftsmen of the Pinske family have owned and actively managed their thriving company.

In the early 1960s, Edward Jr. ("Pete") Pinske took over the construction business, while his brother Bob took over the millwork and cabinet shop, and the lumberyard went to their youngest brother, Tom. In 1968, Tim Pinske and his wife, Marlys, joined his father, Bob, in the millwork and cabinet shop, and they decided to specialize in manufacturing kitchen and bath cabinetry as Plato Woodwork, Inc., and marketing it through a network of dealers.

The Pinske "custom built" legacy that was born in 1893 flourishes today in Plato Woodwork. The quality of superb American craftsmanship and innovation is built into every cabinet, from the inside out, for generations of enjoyment. With well over 100 years of history, Plato offers homeowners the peace of mind that the company will be around to backup the Limited Lifetime Warranty that comes with every custom cabinet.
